SBI was founded by Gene Banks in 1979 after a fulfilling career as a firefighter in Dallas, TX! Due to first-hand experience with the impact of fire on fabrics, upholstery & people's lives, he set out to specialize in the application of flame retardants to upholstery & drapery fabrics. For the last 45 years, the Banks family has built one of America's leading full-service fabric finishing operations & SBI continues to grow as a family business today! 

SBI's early success & expansion was driven by the commitment to using only the highest quality finishing products & most advanced application techniques.
