The Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) is a charitable organization established by Royal Charter in 1881 and based in London, England. It functions as a cross-disciplinary forum linking scientists and business professionals with a focus on chemistry and related sciences, aiming to translate scientific advances into practical industry applications for public benefit. The organization coordinates a multi-science network through technical, regional, and international groups to address global challenges in areas such as agri-food, energy, environment, health and wellbeing, and materials, operating as a medium-sized entity. SCI serves scientists, inventors, entrepreneurs, and industry partners by providing networking and educational opportunities that foster innovation and the commercial application of science. It disseminates knowledge via a trade magazine and seven peer-reviewed journals and runs about 250 conferences and informational events each year, reaching roughly 2,500 participants; in 2026 it announced Aston University as its latest Academic Member.
