SCIL is a local nonprofit and disability resource center based in Springfield, Missouri, serving southwest Missouri for more than 25 years. It assists people of all ages and disabilities to maintain independence in the community and in their own homes. A significant portion of the staff and board have disabilities themselves, which informs the delivery of its services. The organization serves as a resource and support for people with disabilities who want to live independently. SCIL provides personal advocacy and systemic advocacy at the government, community, and school levels to reduce discrimination and increase accessibility. It also offers inclusive social and recreational activities, peer support, youth services, transition assistance out of nursing homes, and in-home personal attendant care. The organization serves eight counties in the region: Christian, Dallas, Greene, Lawrence, Polk, Stone, Taney, and Webster.
