The Seattle Art Museum, known as SAM, is a regional visual arts institution based in Seattle, Washington, with a history spanning more than 90 years. It operates across three sites—the downtown Seattle museum, the Seattle Asian Art Museum in Volunteer Park, and the Olympic Sculpture Park along the downtown waterfront—and maintains a collection of roughly 25,000 objects from more than 140 cultures. Through its exhibitions, educational programs, and installations, SAM connects art to life and invites broad public engagement. Within the museums sector, SAM positions itself as a major cultural and educational organization that provides access to art and learning opportunities for visitors, students, and researchers. In June 2024, SAM appointed Scott Stulen as director and CEO, signaling ongoing leadership and program development.
