SIFF is a Seattle-based nonprofit cultural arts organization focused on film discovery and education, operating the Seattle International Film Festival, SIFF Cinema, and Futurewave Education. Founded in 1976, it has grown into a year-round program that showcases international and independent cinema. The organization aims to create experiences that bring people together to discover films from around the world and to foster a community that is informed and engaged in cinema. In the film landscape, SIFF is recognized as one of the leading North American festivals, and it serves as a venue where short films can qualify for Academy Award consideration, presenting more than 260 features, documentaries, and shorts to roughly 90,000 attendees each year. Based in Seattle, Washington, it operates as a 501(c)(3) cultural arts organization whose year-round programming includes SIFF Cinema and Futurewave Education. A recent development noted in media indicates the festival added seasonal staff for the 2026 edition to support programming.
