The Self Storage Association (SSA) is the recognized global leader in, and authority on, the worldwide self storage industry while properly representing domestic U.S. members, affiliated state associations, and maintaining formal affiliations with national associations from all countries. 

The SSA is the industry’s legislative advocate representing the interests of more than 55,000 facilities nationwide before federal, state, and local legislators and regulators. In collaboration with state associations and member companies, the SSA has worked to modernize self storage lien laws in nearly every state and add specialty licenses for sale of tenant insurance. The SSA has a successful track record of stopping legislation harmful to the industry, including sales tax on self storage rentals, threats to the operators’ lien rights, and government efforts to control industry pricing.
