Sequoia Scientific, Inc. designs and manufactures submersible and field instruments that measure suspended particles and related optical properties in aquatic environments. Founded in 1995, the company introduced the LISST line of sensors and has since developed more than forty sensor variants, with thousands of instruments in use worldwide. All design and production occur in Bellevue, Washington, with sales staff based in Bellevue and Mobile, Alabama. The instruments are used primarily in ocean science, freshwater research, and environmental monitoring, with applications that include particle sizing and concentration as well as optical properties of water. In late 2025, Sequoia announced a collaboration with MIT to develop image processing software.
