Launched in North America on April 27, 2014, Shalom World is a vibrant, family-friendly, Catholic television network. It took its origin from Shalom ministry, which was started in a remote village in Kerala, India in 1989 as a small prayer group. This group of young men led by Benny Punnathara sought to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ using modern means of mass communication hence setting up Shalom Media. Shalom is a Hebrew word, meaning ‘peace’. Shalom Media as a non-profit organization entered the print media field first, to bring solace and healing from the One who is always available to all who search for Him. Later in March 2005 as a miracle of God, Shalom launched its 24/7 official television channel - Shalom TV. Now it is the biggest Catholic television channel in India. After having worked very closely with the founder, and having played a crucial role in the ministry development in India, Santo Thomas set out on a journey to North America realizing his call to start this channel outside of India as well, to benefit millions of people searching for peace. Shalom World emerged out of this commitment and is furthering its boundaries under the impeccable guidance of Rev. Dr. Roy Palatty, Spiritual Director, Shalom Media. It broadcasts 24/7 high-definition, Catholic content that is faith-filled, virtue-building, character-based, and family-friendly. This later became a global network with an addition of 3 more channels namely, Shalom World Europe, Shalom World Australia, and SW Prayer; launched in 2016, 2018, and 2020 respectively. Apart from these, Shalom World has three major segments - SW Movies, SW Pals, and SW News. Through SW Movies, you can watch beautiful, faith-based, family movies. SW News brings the latest Christian News from around the world and SW Pals brings innovative fun-filled content for kids.
