About Shearwater Air Named after the incredible seabirds that migrate thousands of miles each year, Shearwater Air is a jet charter and aircraft management company based in scenic Monterey, California. Shearwater Air’s roots can be traced to an initial 1996 purchase of a Lear 60, when Shearwater’s founders realized there was great value in the time saving and productivity of private aircraft usage. In 2005, Shearwater Air upgraded its aircraft to the luxurious Bombardier Challenger 300, providing a more spacious cabin and the ability to travel greater distances between stopovers. Shearwater began its jet charter service when it achieved its Federal Aviation Administration Part 135 certification in 2010. Shearwater Air facilitates business and pleasure travel for clients via ocean and continent-hopping jet aircraft. Our jets have traveled extensively from California to Europe, Chile, Brazil and Hawaii, even circumnavigating the globe on occasion with stops in Europe, the Persian Gulf, India, the Pacific Islands of Guam, the Marshalls and Hawaii. Shearwater Air personnel possess decades of combined aviation experience.
