Shepherd Community Center is a faith-based nonprofit in Indianapolis, Indiana, founded in 1985 with the aim of breaking the cycle of poverty on the near east side of the city. It operates from a central location at 4107 East Washington Street, placing services within reach of the community it serves. The organization runs programs for children, teens, adults, and families that address physical, emotional, academic, and spiritual needs. Through these offerings, it seeks to support residents facing multiple challenges and help strengthen the neighborhood. As a mid-sized nonprofit in the civic and human services sector, Shepherd collaborates with local partners to extend its reach and impact. A notable recent development is its partnership with the Indianapolis Public Library to create a Shared System Library, which provides Shepherd students and neighbors with access to thousands of books and other resources across city branch libraries.
