The Sisters - Camp Sherman Fire District, also known as the Sisters-Camp Sherman Rural Fire Protection District, is a public safety fire district established in 1937 and headquartered in Sisters, Oregon, with a main station in Sisters and two substations in Camp Sherman and Squaw Creek Canyon Estates. It operates as a combination career and volunteer agency serving more than 60 square miles with an ambulance service area of about 800 square miles in mountainous and high desert terrain. The district provides fire prevention and education, structural and wildland fire suppression, advanced life support emergency medical services, and rescue operations including vehicle extrication and hazardous materials response. It serves roughly 6,500 permanent residents and up to 20,000 people seasonally, including the City of Sisters with about 2,500 residents. The organization employs 11-50 staff, including a Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Fire & Life Safety Manager, Volunteer Recruitment & Retention Coordinator, three shift commander paramedics, six firefighter-paramedics, an Executive Assistant, and an Office Assistant, and relies heavily on its volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians.
