SITU is an architecture and urban planning practice based in Brooklyn, New York, founded in 2005 by four Cooper Union students who began collaborating early in their careers. The firm emphasizes a client-centered, adaptive process built on a diverse body of knowledge, avoiding a fixed stylistic agenda. Its work is organized into three divisions—Studio, Research, and Fabrication—that collaborate while delivering individual services, ensuring prototyping and development remain integral to the workflow. The practice serves a broad mix of clients, including museums, art centers, academic institutions, civic and professional organizations, developers, and high-end commercial and residential projects. A multidisciplinary staff from fields such as architecture, art, design, engineering, fabrication, geography, urbanism, visualization, programming, and research collaborates to shape spaces at multiple scales. SITU has received notable honors, including grants from the MacArthur Foundation and the Oak Foundation, and design awards from Interior Design magazine (Best of Year 2011 and 2014) as well as an Excellence in Design award from the Art Commission of the City of New York.
