Skillful is a nonprofit initiative of the Markle Foundation, based in Denver, Colorado. It focuses on enabling Americans, especially those without a four-year college degree, to secure good jobs in a changing economy by developing skills-based training and employment practices in collaboration with state governments, local employers, educators, and workforce development organizations. The program operates in Skillful Colorado and Skillful Indiana, bringing resources, training, tools, and innovative methods to support local workforce development efforts. It also formed the Skillful State Network, a collaboration among 20 state governors to accelerate the deployment of skills-based practices in labor markets. The initiative receives support from Walmart and partners with Colorado and Indiana, Microsoft, Lumina, Purdue University, and Purdue Extensions.
