Smart Transactions Group (STG) is the UK leader in contactless payments and ticketing, processing millions of digital transit and emoney transactions every day.

STG was created to bring together two UK start-ups: next generation digital payments company sQuid and Applied Card Technologies (ACT), the number one ITSO transit smart card provider.

sQuid and ACT both currently operate contactless smartcard-based networks and share plans to launch mobile phone and NFC solutions in the near future. sQuid has focussed on rolling out its disruptive, low cost pre-pay emoney platform in the education and retail sectors, with ACT specialising in ITSO Transit, including trains, trams and buses. On formation the group achieved immediate leadership in UK smart payments and ticketing with over 500k payments and 60 million transit transactions made in March 2011 alone.

Founded in 2005, sQuid’s disruptive model enables lowest cost transactions in retail, digital and virtual commerce, by-passing expensive bank and card networks with its own FSA-compliant eMoney platform, featuring bank-grade security.

ACT, formed in 2002, is the UK market-leader in ITSO interoperable smart card ticketing systems being widely adopted across the UK. ACT also operates smart ticketing and tourism cards in N America and Europe. ACT and sQuid are already working together to launch an integrated ‘Pay as you go’ travel service in Scotland and Wales.

Our mission is to become the Skype of payments and ticketing.
