Social Enterprise Alliance (SEA) champions the social enterprise sector in the United States, seeking to unlock greater social impact by equipping enterprises with tools, resources, and guidance while cultivating an ecosystem in which they can thrive. It supports a nationwide network of members and chapters—encompassing social enterprises, service providers, investors, corporations, public servants, academics, and researchers—through information, research, best practices, capacity building, storytelling, and impact aggregation, as well as advocacy and community building. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, SEA traces its origins to 1998 when it began as The National Gathering for Social Entrepreneurs, and it maintains formal recognition as an official member of the Forbes Nonprofit Council. Its primary audience includes social enterprises and allied stakeholders seeking to advance social impact, and SEA acts as a catalyst and connector within the nonprofit sector. In 2019, SEA-TC launched the Doing Well By Doing Good video series in partnership with Twin Cities Public Television and Rewire.org to highlight the work and impact of social enterprises.
