Socrates Sculpture Park is a nonprofit organization that manages and programs a New York City public park located in Long Island City, New York, under a license from NYC Parks. Over more than 35 years, it has operated as a model of public art production, community activism, and socially inspired placemaking, earning recognition such as the Public Art Dialogue 2023 Founders Award. The park spans five waterfront acres with outdoor studio facilities and has hosted works by more than 1,200 artists, including Agnes Denes, Virginia Overton, and Hank Willis Thomas. It provides free access to the public every day of the year, from 9 a.m. to sunset. In 2022, the organization partnered with LOT-EK to design a building, reflecting ongoing collaborations with designers to expand its site.
