The Solferino gold mine is a 250 hectares hard rock mine property located in the mining district of Anori in the Antioquia department of Colombia. It is currently a small scale production gold mine averaging 5-8 tonnes of ore rock a day processing at a high average of 20 grams of gold per ton.

In 2010, gold giant Yamana Gold signed a buying agreement for 100 percent of mining rights.  They invested in exploration, doing underground sampling drilling and 4,684 meters of diamond drill holes.  Yamana Gold, however, returned the project to the owner.  The mine’s shoot of around 150,000 ounces of economic gold was much too small for the giant corporation.  Yamana is a multi-million ounce gold producer and they look for much larger mines.

That’s when the project changed hands.  After Yamana backed out, a few introductions were made and Christopher Martino and his team stepped in to begin working the Solferino gold mine.
