Soloshot develops auto-tracking robotic cameras that enable hands-free filming of people and activities without a dedicated operator. The system combines tracking with software workflows for capturing, editing, sharing, and live streaming, making the main camera angle accessible to consumers. The approach supports individuals and creators seeking convenient, self-operated filming of events and activities.

Based in San Diego, California, the company was founded by a group of traveling surfers, kiteboarders, artists and filmmakers who also bring engineering and manufacturing expertise. It targets individuals and small groups who want hands-free capture of experiences, addressing the challenge of filming action without another person behind the lens. The team is described as small and specialized; in 2018 Soloshot expanded its software offerings with SOLOSHOTedit and a motion time lapse app, including an external beta program for the editor software.
