Songwriters of North America (SONA) is an advocacy organization based in Los Angeles, California, that represents professional songwriters in the entertainment sector. It focuses on protecting the rights of writers, notably ensuring fair compensation in the digital era and providing a platform for songwriters to speak with a unified voice. In place of a formal union, SONA works to uphold safety and equality in the workplaces where music is created. The organization serves professional songwriters as its primary constituency, offering collective advocacy and a structured voice to address industry concerns. Recent developments include the introduction of the Emerging Songwriter Warrior Award, presented in partnership with YouTube, and the addition of music industry figure Ross Golan to its board.
