After 28 years of service, South Africa Partners closed on January 31, 2025. We thank our partners, especially the incredible staff who helped build our lasting legacy. We built our legacy based on the understanding that the end of legislated apartheid did not mean the end of apartheid’s impact on the majority of the population. We believed there was much to gain from the exchange of ideas between South Africa and the United States. The bridge we built between the two countries enabled an invaluable exchange of ideas and knowledge. We wanted to build a future in which every citizen enjoys the benefits of a just democracy. We still believe that “it takes a village” – that communities build people and social capital through collective action for a long-lasting impact.
