SECHC provides comprehensive health care to residents of Boston's South End and nearby communities, including primary medical care, behavioral health, dental and eye services, and a range of specialty care and wellness programs addressing social determinants of health. Care is delivered in a culturally and linguistically sensitive manner and is intended to be accessible to patients regardless of ability to pay. The main clinic at 1601 Washington Street in Boston is a 48,000-square-foot facility that supports more than 14,000 patients and about 80,000 annual visits. Founded in 1969 by neighborhood activists to address health care disparities, SECHC operates in Boston within the Hospitals and Health Care sector.
