South Shore Elder Services is a private, non-profit organization designated at the federal level as an Area Agency on Aging and at the state level as an Aging Services Access Point for 11 communities in Massachusetts. Its service area includes Braintree, Cohasset, Hingham, Holbrook, Hull, Milton, Norwell, Quincy, Randolph, Scituate, and Weymouth. Based in Braintree, the agency provides assessments, advocacy, and assistance to elder and disabled residents to help them remain at home in their communities for as long as possible. The organization is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and an Advisory Council. The programs are supported in part by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs, as well as by volunteers, trusts, private contracts, and private donations. As part of the non-profit aging services sector, South Shore Elder Services coordinates services that address aging and disability needs in its region.
