SEARAC is a national civil rights nonprofit based in Washington, DC, that works to empower Southeast Asian communities—particularly those from Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam—toward a socially just and equitable society. It represents the largest refugee community resettled in the United States and collaborates with other refugee groups and social justice movements to advance social equity. The organization operates with a small-to-mid-sized staff and concentrates its efforts within the nonprofit sector on advocacy and community empowerment. Its work serves Southeast Asian American communities and other communities of color by addressing civil rights and related equity concerns. In 2024, SEARAC partnered with the Joint Center to develop recommendations for improving the collection and use of CTE data.
