Southeast Gas is a natural gas utility delivering service to more than 32,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers across 35 communities and 18 counties in the southeast quadrant of Alabama. The company owns and operates an extensive pipeline network, including 622 miles of transmission lines and 1,568 miles of distribution lines, within a roughly 12,000-square-mile service territory. Headquartered in Andalusia, Alabama, Southeast Gas was established in 1952 to provide natural gas service to a set of Alabama cities that each retain an equal share and representation on the company’s board. This municipal ownership structure ensures shared governance among the participating cities. In May 2026, it was announced that longtime executive Mark Fowler will retire on July 1, 2026, after more than 30 years with the company.
