Southern Avenue Charter Elementary School of Academic Excellence and Creative Arts is a charter school serving primary education in Memphis, Tennessee. It was founded in 2004 by parents and community members who sought a public option for at-risk students not succeeding in regular Memphis Public Schools. The school’s charter was approved by the Tennessee Department of Education and Memphis City Schools, and it opened in August 2005.

Guided by the aim of educating the whole child and preparing students to assume responsible citizenship, the school has grown from 69 students at opening to more than 360. It has earned a Level 5 rating on the TCAP, the top score on the state’s exam rating scale. The campus is located in Memphis, Tennessee, and the school operates with a small staff to support its student body.
