Southern Exposure Seed Exchange is a worker-owned seed cooperative based in Mineral, Virginia. It preserves and passes on traditional seed varieties by offering non-GMO seeds that are mostly open-pollinated and either organic or sustainably grown for very small farmers. About 60% of its varieties are produced on small US farms under contract, with terms around 2.5 years to expand opportunities for those growers; the catalog includes more than 800 varieties of vegetables, flowers, herbs, grains, and cover crops, with a focus on organic seeds and Southern heirlooms. 

Governance rests with worker-owners, who have a voice in decisions and receive equal compensation. The organization supports organic gardening and seed saving through collaborations with networks such as Organic Seed Alliance and Seed Savers Exchange, and it provides seed packets for gardeners alongside a 100% organic seed rack program for retailers; in 2022, it announced a partnership with Reston Farm Garden Market LLC.
