Since 1928, the Southern Mutual Church Insurance family has worked with policyholders as partners in faith and in serving God’s church. 

From those humble beginnings, Southern Mutual’s family has grown to serve more than 11,000 churches across many denominations and states. As a testament to our commitment and dedication to our churches, our very first policyholder remains insured with us to this day.

Today SMCI has more than $11 billion property coverage in force, annual written premiums of more than $56 million, policyholder reserves of more than $53 million, and more than 19,000 policies across many denominations.

SMCI provides policies in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia. Coming in April 2022 to West Virginia. 

SMCI offers Property and Liability coverage, Business Automobile policies, Workers Compensation coverage, and Umbrella liability coverage, as well as, other specialty products and services unique to meet the specific needs of churches.
