Southern Public Power District is an electric distribution system providing service over approximately 7,000 miles of energized lines to nearly 27,000 electric meters in Adams, Franklin, Hall, Hamilton, Kearney, Merrick and Phelps Counties. 

Southern, like other public power districts in Nebraska, is a non-profit political subdivision of the state and subject to laws enacted by the legislature. Policies and rates are set by an elected 14-member board of directors. Each county served by Southern is served by two directors.

Southern's headquarters are located in Grand Island. We also have four service region offices located in Holdrege, Franklin, Hastings and Central City.
