Southern University at Shreveport (SUSLA) is a two-year comprehensive community college based in Shreveport, Louisiana, and part of The Southern University System. Founded in 1967, it operates as a historically black college and university within the higher education sector, offering accessible programs and workforce-focused education to the local community. In 2026, SUSLA expanded its community engagement through partnerships with health systems and public safety agencies, notably collaborating with Willis-Knighton Health System and the Roy Griggs School of Business, Inc, and with Ochsner Health System to host a mobile dental clinic for community members. The college also launched a re-entry program in collaboration with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office. Its workforce development initiatives connect SUSLA with LSBDC and MS KICK to support local entrepreneurship, including an event at the SUSLA Metro Center during Black History Month.
