Special Olympics Australia is a mid-sized non-profit organization focused on inclusion through sport for people with intellectual disability and/or autism, operating as part of a global movement. It emphasizes that sport can change culture, policies, behaviours, and minds, not merely provide recreation. The organization aims to break down barriers and create spaces where everyone belongs, supporting participation, competition, and growth for all participants.
Based in Sydney, New South Wales, it serves the Australian context within the broader non-profit sector. In December 2025, Special Olympics Australia launched a next-generation inclusive coaching course, reflecting ongoing activity and a focus on accessible programming.
