Speed Art Museum is an independent, encyclopedic art museum located at 2035 South 3rd Street in Louisville, Kentucky, on the campus of the University of Louisville. It is Kentucky’s oldest and largest art museum, and its mission is to invite everyone to celebrate art forever. The institution was founded in 1927 by Louisville philanthropist Hattie Bishop Speed and was originally known as the J. B. Speed Memorial Museum.
