Speedball Art Products Company is an American art materials manufacturer and retailer in the Retail Art Supplies industry, located at 2301 Speedball Road in Statesville, North Carolina, with a workforce of 51–200 employees. It produces materials for screen printing and block printing and pottery wheels and has expanded to cover printmaking, ceramics, metal leafing, painting, and artist paper. The Speedball name traces its history to 1899 when C. Howard Hunt formed a company in Camden, New Jersey, and Ross F. George developed and patented the Speedball square-tipped pen, with the patent later associated with the C. Howard Hunt Pen Company in 1915; today nibs are still split, ground, and assembled by hand in Statesville, North Carolina. In July 2025, Speedball Art acquired the Silicoil brand and assets and the Silicoil Brush Cleaning System and all associated equipment and assets from The Lion Company, Inc. The company operates online at speedballart.com and reports revenue in the range of $1 million to $10 million.
