Speirs Major Light Architecture is an independent, international design practice that uses light and darkness to shape the experience of the visual environment. Its work spans lighting for architecture and urban design, and it collaborates closely with clients, architects, and other design partners to reveal the core principles of a project and often create a visual narrative that becomes part of the final built form. The firm's approach blends creativity with pragmatism to deliver solutions that are sustainable and straightforward to manage. Based in London, England, the practice operates on international projects within architecture and planning, addressing the needs of clients seeking integrated lighting strategies. With a relatively small team, it maintains an international reach through collaboration. In January 2025, SMLA received the Heritage Lighting Project of the Year award for the At-Turaif site in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.
