SPIDER is a centre of enablement that coordinates and promotes inclusive digitalisation through global networks and local partnerships. It brings together a range of actors—private sector, Civil Society Organisations, universities and government agencies—united by the aim of using information and communication technology to progress the Sustainable Development Goals. The organization coordinates a strategic programme for ICT in developing regions and collaborates with partners across Sweden, the Nordic countries, Europe and in Africa, Latin America and Asia. SPIDER is hosted by Stockholm University’s Department of Computer and Systems Sciences in Stockholm. Operating from Stockholm, SPIDER supports ICT-related projects and initiatives and provides professional services to ICT projects. It conducts digitalisation research anchored in real-world contexts and focuses on enabling the deployment of appropriate ICTs, building digital infrastructure and environments in developing countries, and addressing policy and regulatory questions.
