As a regional hospital center, Spital Simmental-Thun-Saanenland (STS) AG guarantees medical care for a steady resident population of 150,000 people and the tourists in the region at the Thun and Zweisimmen hospitals. More than 2,000 employees care for the well-being of patients at all times. Each year, around 16,500 inpatients are treated and around 220,000 visits by outpatients are registered. 

At the Thun Medical Center at the train station, patients with physical, non-life-threatening complaints, injuries or accidents, for which a consultation is necessary but which do not have to take place directly in the emergency center of Thun Hospital, are given quick and uncomplicated medical care without having to make an appointment in advance. 

In addition to acute medical and nursing care, Spital STS AG provides ambulance and rescue services and outpatient and day-care psychiatric care in its service area.
