The St. Charles County Ambulance District functions as a regional mobile health care provider within the hospitals and health care sector, delivering both emergency and non-emergency care and transport across all municipalities and unincorporated areas of St. Charles County. Its service area covers 592 square miles and serves a population of more than 400,000. In addition to core emergency response, the district operates programs such as Mobile Integrated Health and an award-winning Substance Use Recovery Response Team. It also runs a Training Center offering EMT and Paramedic courses as well as American Heart Association training. Headquartered in Cottleville, Missouri, the district has been named Missouri EMS Service of the Year seven times, and in 2025 it launched a pre-hospital blood program.
