St. Francis Medical Center, located in Trenton, New Jersey, is an acute care teaching hospital and a member of Trinity Health. It is especially noted for its cardiac surgery program and operates Mercer County's only cardiac surgery center as well as the county's first accredited Stroke Center. The center provides regional services that include the Heart Hospital, a Regional Cancer Center, Emergency Medicine and Primary Care, along with an active Community Outreach Program. It also runs educational programs, including a School of Nursing and a School of Radiologic Technology, and hosts an Internal Medicine Residency in partnership with Seton Hall University School of Medicine. Founded by the Sisters of St. Francis nearly 150 years ago, its mission centers on transforming and healing in the communities it serves. In December 2022, Capital Health completed its acquisition of St. Francis Medical Center, and the facility closed as an independent hospital, though the emergency department remained open and some outpatient services continued.
