St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital (STEGH) is a community hospital located in St Thomas, Ontario, delivering round-the-clock care across internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics, anesthesia, emergency, mental health and family medicine. The facility comprises 179 beds and serves the city of St Thomas and eight municipalities in Elgin County, with a clear focus on patient safety and high-quality care. A workforce of more than a thousand professionals, including credentialed staff, supports in-hospital care to each patient who comes through STEGH's doors. STEGH participates in the Southwestern Ontario Medical Education Network as a community hospital training centre for residents in multiple specialties, reflecting its role in medical education and workforce development. In 2024 the hospital opened Elgin County's first MRI machine, a development that broadened diagnostic capabilities, and it has pursued accreditation partnerships as part of its quality initiatives.
