St Virgil's College is a Catholic boys' school in Tasmania that serves students from Grade 3 to Grade 10. It educates more than 750 boys aged 8 to 16 across two campuses: Patrick Street in Hobart's CBD for grades 3–6, and a 70-acre Austins Ferry campus for grades 7–10 with bushland surroundings and views of the Derwent River and kunanyi (Mt Wellington). The school emphasizes development across academics, the arts, service, environmental action, sporting pursuits and outdoor adventures to foster faith, community, justice and respect. Founded in 1911 by the Christian Brothers, St Virgil's is one of Tasmania's oldest boys' colleges and celebrated its centenary in 2011. It follows the Edmund Rice tradition and operates under a motto of 'by deeds, not words' to guide student conduct. In 2021, it was recognized as the nation's leader in the schools category at the Australian Reconciliation Convention, acknowledging its work on reconciliation on the Country of the muwinina people.
