Stamford Memorial Hospital is a small hospital serving the Stamford area in Texas within the hospitals and health care sector. It traces its origins to 1910 when local physicians opened Stamford Sanitarium to care for workers from the railroad industry and the growing community. Over the years the facility evolved from a 12-bed wooden building to brick facilities, with a 15-bed wing added in 1929, and the current campus completed in 1969, after which it has operated under the Stamford Memorial Hospital name. In 1965 a hospital district was established to support care for all citizens regardless of their ability to pay. A notable recent development is a December 2023 partnership with Boston Heart Diagnostics to expand cardiovascular lipid testing through collaboration with the hospital.
