The Standards Coordinating Body (SCB) is a nonprofit organization that connects the regenerative medicine community with the standards development process. It brings together participants from industry, academia, professional societies, and government entities, and it maintains neutrality with no vested interests in any single scientific, commercial, clinical, or policy approach. The organization aims to address stakeholder needs and support the advancement of standards that benefit the wider regenerative medicine field and help speed innovation. Based in Gaithersburg, Maryland, SCB operates as a small to mid-sized nonprofit active in the standards ecosystem of regenerative medicine. In March 2021 it launched an online portal to improve access to published standards and those under development. Earlier, in 2019, it released a draft report highlighting tissue stem cell counting as a necessary standard to support progress in regenerative medicine clinical trials.
