Starburns Industries is a Burbank, California-based full-service production company that specializes in stop-motion, traditional 2D, and CG animation for film, television, and new media, as well as live-action projects. The studio operates across two buildings in Burbank with more than 30,000 square feet of production space, offering facilities including a dedicated puppet fabrication shop, large-scale set construction, 3D printing and prototyping, a voiceover/ADR studio, motion control, and complete post-production and delivery services. Founded in summer 2010 through a partnership among Dan Harmon, Dino Stamatopoulos, Joe Russo II, and James A. Fino, the company produced Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas for NBC’s Community, which earned an Emmy Award for outstanding achievement in character animation. Its projects have included season two of Mary Shelley’s Frankenhole and the reboot Beforel Orel for Adult Swim, along with production on Rick and Morty’s season two and the stop-motion feature Anomalisa by Charlie Kaufman. The company has engaged in collaborations with other studios, including a development partnership with 3BLACKDOT on Alpha Betas, and involvement in Welcome To My Daydream, a documentary about Will Vinton produced with XYZ Films.
