The State Bar of Arizona is a nonprofit organization overseen by the Arizona Supreme Court. It regulates about 18,200 active attorneys in Arizona and offers education and development programs for the legal profession and the public. It maintains a lawyer regulation department that helps resolve disputes between clients and attorneys and provides consumer legal information and periodic free legal advice days. The Bar is not a state agency and is funded through membership dues, service fees and other self-generated revenue. It is based in Phoenix with a second office in Tucson and is governed by a 30-member Board of Governors, largely composed of lawyers elected by Bar members, with four public representatives. Founded in 1933, the State Bar of Arizona also engages in public education and professional development and, in May 2026, announced a partnership with AZLPWP to support mental health and well-being for legal professionals.
