STEDY (Southwest Technical Education District) is an independent school district specifically established to provide career and technical (CTE) or "vocational" programs to high school students in Yuma County. Our CTE programs give students the skills necessary to earn professional, industry-recognized credential or college credit or both. It provides opportunities for hands-on, real-world experience. It teaches students the so-called 'soft skills,' such as being able to communicate effectively. It accomplishes all this because the program works closely with business and industry to ensure that students are being trained to meet current industry standards. STEDY was established in 2014. It's funding comes from two sources: state appropriations and secondary property taxes from homeowners. It is one of 14 approved, Joint Technological Education Districts throughout Arizona.
