SMMC is a Medicare Certified, not-for-profit, Level IV Trauma Center, 18-bed Critical Access Hospital and associated Rural Health Clinic.

In 2016, Steele Memorial Clinic added a Walk-in Clinic as an additional service line. In 2017, Steele Memorial Clinic concluded new construction of a state of the art 17,000 square foot addition, allowing for a much needed expansion of the Steele Memorial Specialty Clinic.
