Stiftelsen Diakonissehuset Lovisenberg is a nonprofit diaconal foundation operating in the Norwegian health care sector, with activities in health education, elder care, and hospital management. It owns or operates several entities, including Lovisenberg Diakonale Høgskole AS for health education, Lovisenberg Diakonale Sykehus AS (50% ownership), and care and rehabilitation units, a kindergarten, and Norway’s only oblat bakery, as well as a guesthouse and canteens. The foundation runs nine nursing homes and employs around 2,500 people in elder care. Based in Oslo, the organization traces its roots to Cathinka Guldberg, who established Diakonissehuset and nursing education in 1868. A September 2023 development noted in reports involved asset transfers connected to Lovisenberg.
