Storyhouse, based in Chester, England, is a mid-sized charity that functions as a multifaceted performing arts venue offering a library, theatre, cinema, restaurant and community hub. It houses a pioneering library with the longest opening hours of any UK public library, open daily until 11pm, and it maintains a nationally regarded theatre company with home-produced shows, alongside Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre in the city’s main park and the Moonlight Flicks open-air cinema. The organization provides more than 2,000 activities each year for local marginalised groups, including autism-friendly sessions and sewing groups for refugees, plus regular classes for isolated and older communities. It also hosts a range of festivals and ongoing programs, including events for literature, children, women, elders, queer communities and disability, and supports Young Storyhouse to help disadvantaged youth develop employability skills.
