STR Helper provides software for licensing and compliance of short-term rentals, helping municipalities enforce rules effectively. Founded by city administrators and launched in 2017, it has since been adopted by more than 70 local governments across the United States, serving jurisdictions of varying sizes from small towns to large urban centers including counties and municipalities. Based in Austin, Texas, the company operates with a small team and is now part of Host Compliance. In 2019, Summit County partnered with STR Helper to create a resident hotline for reporting short-term rental issues, such as illegal parking, accumulating trash, and excessive noise.
