Strathmore University is a chartered higher education institution based in Nairobi, Kenya. It originated as the first multiracial and multi-religious English-speaking institution in Eastern Africa, and in 2004 it became the first in the region to receive ISO certification. The university emphasizes all-around quality education through teaching, research, and scholarship, guided by freedom and responsibility and a commitment to ethical development and service to society. 

Its activities extend to research through centers such as the Centre for Research in Therapeutic Sciences, engaging in health-focused studies with regional partners. In May 2026, Strathmore announced partnerships with Machakos University and Eastlands College of Technology to broaden regional collaboration, and it hosted World Press Freedom Day 2026 to engage leaders across media, policy, academia, and civil society.
