Street Simplified is passionate about safe streets. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, nearly 43,000 Americans died in crashes in 2021, and thousands more endured life-altering injuries. Many of these tragedies could be prevented with practical changes to intersections. However, the only source of traffic data has been crash reports. These take years to collect, rely upon deaths and injuries, and still don’t provide insights into why those crashes occurred. This approach is reactive. 

Street Simplified is proactive. We identify behaviors that cause collisions—reducing those behaviors means reducing future collisions. Street Simplified collects video traffic data using proprietary AI technology, the first and only of its kind. We have no competitors. These data include near misses, red-light running, speeding, crossing off crosswalks, and others. In a single day, we capture 20 times more risk data than a year of crash reports. We use these data to generate insights into why collisions occur and develop practical solutions to reduce them. So far, we have worked at over 300 locations across 25 states. 

Street Simplified's CEO, Andrew Janzen, earned a Master’s in Electrical Engineering with honors from California Institute of Technology in 2016. Afterward, he worked on microwave and optical space communications at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory before co-founding Street Simplified. Since then, Andrew has worked closely with hundreds of agencies, transportation leaders, and scores of industry executives to hone street-safety analytics and deliver on every project.
